I am very aware of the indifference of the universe and in coming to terms with this I realise that the only truth is the creative principle. I believe that as an artist, my goal is alignment with that principle. I do not see the point of life without creativity. All existence is creative impetus.

In science, the theory is necessary before the fact; in art, it is the exact opposite.

Art must always question existence.

Art is the necessary fiction through which we establish fact.

Art is not to be understood so much as experienced – it is through the experience that we may come to understand.

In art, beyond any illusion, a new reality must be evoked.

The feelings of today are the thoughts of tomorrow.

WORKS ON PAPER

As Miro said, "never a day without a line" and every day I spend much time in the studio pushing and pulling at some new effort of expression. Consequently there are many offshoots of ideas that are committed to paper.

However, these are not 'studies' for larger works, they are all completed paintings in their own right. Many of them (there are thousands) have never been exhibited publicly and are shown here for the first time. I tend to see them as part of my legacy to the future.
